Permanent Substitute Job Description:
Provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers
Co-teach with teacher-leaders
Support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction
Full participation in summer and school-year professional development, as well as regular meetings with the Academic Leadership Team
Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence
A strong commitment to all students with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards
Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building
Collaborate with Director of Student Support to identify new-to-New York ELL/MLL students in accordance with state and federal guidelines
Collaborate with the Director of Student Support to identify proficiency levels and implement academic services for students with multilingual learning needs
Monitor ELL student proficiency levels and needs to determine progress in English language development
Maintain ELL/MLL student information in SIS systems and keep documentation on ELL/MLL students, their state testing scores, and proficiency levels;
Collaborate with Director of Student Support to administer the NYSITELL to all new entrants within 10 days of entry to school;
Collaborate with the Director of Student Support to administer the NYSESLAT to ELL students each year;
Coordinate, schedule , provide and oversee small group pull-out services to Tier 3 students for intervention
Implement Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention
Participate actively in weekly scheduled professional development, including timely, quality completion of any assignments before and after each session.
Provide input into the development of the school’s professional development priorities and feedback on weekly sessions.
Prepare for and participate actively in observations of your work by instructional leaders, and collaborate to act on their feedback for student achievement.
Participate actively in annual evaluation of your performance, including timely and high-quality execution of all steps in the evaluation process.
Contribute to a joyful and rigorous school culture
Implement the school’s academic and behavioral expectations on a consistent basis
Collaborate with school staff to support students’ academic and socio-emotional development;
Implement the school’s traditions and rituals that support the school’s mission, grade by grade, year to year;
Foster commitment among staff to the development and fulfillment of the school’s mission and values;
Communicate proactively and effectively with all stakeholders;
